Estudios de Historia Novohispana (EHN)

Estudios de Historia Novohispana is a leading peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the study of the history of colonial Mexico (New Spain) and the wider Spanish colonial world in the Americas. Established in 2019 by the Instituto de Investigaciones Históricas of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), it has become one of the most respected scholarly journals in the field of Latin American colonial studies. The journal publishes original research articles, historiographical essays, critical reviews, and occasionally documentary editions that contribute to the understanding of political, social, economic, cultural, religious, legal, demographic, scientific, and artistic developments during the colonial period. Although its primary focus is New Spain, the journal also welcomes comparative studies involving other regions of colonial Spanish America and the Iberian world. All submissions undergo rigorous peer review to ensure high academic quality. The journal is published twice a year and follows an open-access policy, making its content freely available to researchers, students, and the public.
