The East African Journal of Peace and Human Rights (EAJPHR) is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on scholarly research related to human rights, governance, and peacebuilding in Africa and the global community. Established in 1993, the journal is published by the Human Rights and Peace Centre (HURIPEC) at the School of Law, Makerere University in Uganda. Since its inception, the journal has served as an important forum for academic debate and policy discussions concerning human rights protection, democratic governance, and conflict resolution in East Africa and beyond. The journal publishes original research articles, review papers, and policy analyses that address emerging issues in international and regional human rights law. Key topics include constitutionalism, public international law, gender equality, freedom of information, development and law, transitional justice, and governance reforms. It also encourages interdisciplinary contributions from fields such as political science, sociology, and development studies that explore peacebuilding and justice systems in Africa. EAJPHR follows a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the academic quality and originality of published works. It is released twice a year and attracts contributions from scholars, policymakers, and human rights practitioners around the world. Through its scholarly publications, the journal promotes dialogue and research aimed at strengthening human rights protection, democratic institutions, and sustainable peace within the East African region and internationally.
