Journal Descriptions

Dialogues in Human Geography is a leading international journal dedicated to advancing critical conversation and innovation in human geography. Established in 2011 and published three times per year by SAGE Publications, the journal creates a unique forum where scholars engage in open peer dialogue about foundational and emerging issues in geographic scholarship. Each issue features forums — consisting of a major article, multiple expert commentaries, and a reply from the original author — as well as commentaries and book review discussions that advance intellectual exchange. The journal emphasizes theoretical depth and conceptual innovation, inviting work that challenges conventional thinking about space, place, society, environment, mobility, and power. It spans human geography broadly — including cultural, political, economic, urban, and environmental subfields — and connects geographical inquiry with social science and humanities perspectives. Dialogues in Human Geography is forward‑looking and interdisciplinary, making it a core outlet for scholars pushing the boundaries of geographic thought and engaging with debates that shape the discipline’s future. Its format and editorial approach encourage engaged scholarship where ideas are critically examined and refined through conversation, making it both a site of academic discourse and a catalyst for new research directions in geography.
