Development, Growth & Differentiation (DGD)
Journal Descriptions
Development Growth & Differentiation is a peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge in developmental biology, focusing on the molecular, cellular, and genetic mechanisms controlling growth, morphogenesis, and cell differentiation across life forms including animals, plants, and microorganisms. It publishes original research articles, resource papers, methodological advances, protocols, and critical reviews that contribute to understanding how developmental processes are orchestrated at biochemical and biophysical levels. The journal’s scope includes studies on embryonic development, tissue patterning, stem cell dynamics, regulatory gene networks, signal transduction pathways, and evolutionary aspects of development. As the official journal of the Japanese Society of Developmental Biologists, it reflects both cutting-edge experimental research and integrative biological insights that influence fields such as regenerative medicine, developmental genetics, cell biology, and systems biology. Since its establishment in 1950 (initially as Embryologia) and renaming in 1969, it has maintained a long tradition of scholarly excellence, offering a platform for researchers worldwide to publish rigorous, impactful work. With nine issues per year, Development Growth & Differentiation facilitates rapid dissemination of new findings, supports interdisciplinary dialogue, and fosters collaboration among developmental biologists globally. The journal is indexed in major databases such as Web of Science and Scopus, and it continues to shape understanding of fundamental developmental processes.
