Journal Descriptions

Publication of the Institution of Chemical Engineers Official Journal of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering ChERD aims to be the principal international journal for publication of high quality, original papers in chemical engineering. Papers showing how research results can be used in chemical engineering design, and accounts of experimental or theoretical research work bringing new perspectives to established principles, highlighting unsolved problems or indicating directions for future research, are particularly welcome. Contributions that deal with new developments in plant or processes and that can be given quantitative expression are encouraged. The journal is especially interested in papers that extend the boundaries of traditional chemical engineering. The journal publishes regular special issues focusing on specific topics, and issues dedicated to selected papers from major conferences.

Effect of Sparger Design and Height to Diameter Ratio on Fractional Gas Hold-up in Bubble Columns

The combined effect of sparger design and dispersion height on fractional gas hold-up (−ɛG) was investigated in a 0.385 m i.d. bubble column. Perforated plates were used as -spargers. Fre...

CFD simulation of heat transfer in a two-dimensional vertical enclosure

In order to predict the variation in heat transfer coefficient setup by natural convection, independent CFD simulations have been performed for various tall slender vertical geometries (100 ...

Mass and heat transfer characteristics of three phase sparged reactors

Analysis of all published information on the coefficients of heat transfer and mass-wall bed. Influence of the superficial velocities of gas and liquid, the diameter and the speed of sedimen...

Studies in Coking of Arabian Mix Vacuum Residue

Batch reaction experiments pertaining to the coking of Arabian mix vacuum residue (AMVR) were carried out in the temperature range of 430–475°C and at a pressure of 0.2 MPa in an autoclav...

Single and multiphase CFD simulations for designing cavitating venturi

Hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) is becoming a popular process intensification tool for many industrial processes. It has its applications in emulsification, advanced oxidation processes, nano-m...
