BMC Evolutionary Biology (BMC EB)

BMC Evolutionary Biology was a peer-reviewed international open-access scientific journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research across all areas of evolutionary biology. Established in 2001 by BioMed Central, the journal became one of the leading fully open-access publications in the field and provided a platform for researchers studying evolutionary processes at molecular, organismal, and population levels. The journal published original research articles, methodological papers, reviews, and theoretical studies covering molecular evolution, evolutionary genetics, phylogenetics, phylogeography, speciation, evolutionary ecology, comparative genomics, paleontology, and evolutionary developmental biology. It encouraged interdisciplinary approaches that combined genetics, ecology, computational biology, and paleobiology to understand the mechanisms driving biological diversity and evolution. In January 2021, it merged with BMC Ecology to create BMC Ecology and Evolution, continuing its scientific legacy within a broader ecology and evolution framework.
