Journal Descriptions

Biochemical Genetics focuses on the biochemical principles underlying genome structure, expression, and evolution across all life forms. Biochemical Genetics publishes peer-reviewed articles that address the biochemical principles underlying genome structure, expression and evolution, and which cover pure and applied approaches focusing on prokaryotic and eukaryotic, individuals, and populations. Its original, methodological and review articles are devoted to: - Basic research on genome structure, organization and function , gene expression, regulation and mapping, genetic variation, evolution and phylogenetics; - Applied research on molecular genetics, pharmaceutical genetics, conservation genetics, agricultural genetics, and genetic epidemiology. Biochemical Genetics welcomes original manuscripts and translational research that address and test clear scientific hypotheses, are directed to a broad scientific audience, and clearly contribute to the advancement of the field through the use of sound sampling or experimental design, reliable analytical methodologies and robust statistical analyses. Although studies focusing on particular regions and target organisms are welcome, it is not the journal’s goal to publish essentially descriptive studies that provide results with narrow applicability, or are based on very small samples or pseudoreplication. Rather, Biochemical Genetics welcomes review articles that go beyond summarizing previous publications and create added value through the systematic analysis and critique of the current state of knowledge or by conducting meta-analyses. Methodological articles are also within the scope of Biological Genetics, particularly when new laboratory techniques or computational approaches are fully described and thoroughly compared and validated using existing benchmark methods. Publishes original, methodological, and review articles that contribute to the advancement of the field. Presents pure research on genome structure and mapping, gene expression and regulation, genetic variation, evolution, and phylogenetics. Also focuses on applied research in conservation genetics, agricultural genetics, genetic disorders, and genetic epidemiology. Authors have the choice to publish using either the traditional publishing route or immediate gold Open Access (in this case publication charges incur). There are no publication charges except for special services.
