Arheoloski Vestnik (AV)
Journal Descriptions
Arheološki vestnik is the leading Slovenian peer-reviewed archaeological journal and one of the most important scholarly publications in the field of archaeology in Central and Southeastern Europe. Established in 1981, the journal serves as a platform for publishing original archaeological research and interdisciplinary studies that contribute to understanding the cultural and historical development of the southeastern Alpine region, northern Adriatic area, and western Balkans. The journal publishes research articles, excavation reports, analytical studies, and reviews covering prehistoric, classical, Roman, and medieval periods. It also welcomes contributions from related scientific disciplines such as anthropology, archaeozoology, archaeobotany, numismatics, epigraphy, and environmental archaeology. Through this interdisciplinary approach, the journal promotes a comprehensive understanding of past societies and their material culture. Articles are published in several languages, including English, Slovenian, German, Italian, and other European languages. The journal follows rigorous peer-review standards and is indexed in major international databases, including Scopus and the Arts and Humanities Citation Index. As an open-access publication, it contributes significantly to the global dissemination of archaeological scholarship.
