Journal Descriptions

The African Journal on Conflict Resolution (AJCR) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal devoted to research on conflict management, peacebuilding, and dispute resolution in Africa. The journal was established in 1999 and is published by the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD), a non-governmental organization based in Durban, South Africa. AJCR provides an academic platform for scholars, policymakers, and practitioners to publish research and analysis related to conflict dynamics and peace processes across the African continent. The journal publishes original research articles, conceptual papers, and book reviews that examine the causes of conflicts and explore innovative methods for preventing, managing, and resolving disputes. The journal aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice by encouraging interdisciplinary dialogue among researchers, mediators, peacebuilders, and development professionals. Topics covered include mediation, peacekeeping, transitional justice, governance, reconciliation processes, and community-based conflict management strategies. Through its publications, AJCR contributes to the development of African-centered approaches to peace and stability while promoting research that supports democratic governance and sustainable socio-economic development. The journal is widely recognized and indexed in international scholarly databases and serves as a valuable resource for students, academics, and policy experts working in the field of peace and conflict studies.
