Acta Theologica is an internationally accredited, peer‑reviewed open access academic journal published by the Faculty of Theology & Religion at the University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa. The journal has been in continuous publication since 1980, offering scholars a respected platform for research in theology and related religious studies. It publishes two regular issues per year (in June and December) and, on occasion, additional Supplementa volumes devoted to special thematic collections. Acta Theologica is committed to advancing high‑quality scholarship that engages theological inquiry within both African and global contexts. Its scope includes critical and constructive theological analysis, dialogues across religious traditions, and interdisciplinary contributions that explore the social, ethical, and cultural dimensions of religious thought. The journal embraces rigorous double‑blind peer review and publishes articles in English, with some historical content also available in Afrikaans and other languages.
