Journal Descriptions

Acta Linguistica Lithuanica is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to the study of linguistics with a strong emphasis on the Lithuanian language and other Baltic languages. It publishes original research articles, theoretical studies, and applied linguistic analyses covering phonetics, phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, sociolinguistics, historical linguistics, and language documentation. The journal also supports research in comparative and typological linguistics, especially in relation to Indo-European and Baltic language families. A significant portion of its content focuses on the structure, evolution, and usage of Lithuanian, one of the oldest surviving Indo-European languages, making it an important scholarly resource for Baltic linguistics. The journal provides a platform for both Lithuanian and international researchers to contribute to the understanding of language change, grammar systems, and linguistic diversity. It is published in Lithuania and is associated with national linguistic research institutions. The journal plays an important role in preserving linguistic heritage while also engaging with modern linguistic theory and methodology. Articles typically include detailed empirical studies, corpus-based analyses, and theoretical discussions. It is considered a respected source in Baltic and Eastern European linguistics and is used by researchers, language historians, and graduate students in linguistics.
