Journal Descriptions

Acta Geologica Polonica is an international peer-reviewed journal published by the Polish Academy of Sciences. It is dedicated to publishing high-quality research in all major fields of geology and Earth sciences. The journal serves as an important platform for geoscientists working on the study of Earth’s structure, history, and dynamic processes. The journal covers a broad range of geological disciplines, including stratigraphy, sedimentology, paleontology, tectonics, mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry. It also includes studies on basin analysis, regional geology, volcanic processes, and Quaternary geology. Many contributions focus on Central and Eastern Europe, particularly Poland, but the journal maintains a global scientific scope. A key emphasis is placed on understanding Earth’s evolutionary history through fossil records, rock formations, and sedimentary processes. The journal also publishes interdisciplinary research that links geology with environmental science, climate change, and natural resource exploration. Acta Geologica Polonica is widely indexed in international scientific databases and is recognized for its contribution to advancing geological research. It supports both fundamental and applied geoscience studies and plays an important role in the global geological research community.
