ACM SIGUCCS plugged in (SPI)
Journal Descriptions
ACM SIGUCCS Plugged In is an electronic newsletter published by the Association for Computing Machinery’s Special Interest Group on University & College Computing Services (SIGUCCS), aimed at IT professionals supporting and managing technology services in higher education. First appearing in 2012, Plugged In carries the E‑ISSN 2168‑8516 and functions as a digital communication channel for SIGUCCS members to share news, insights, and community highlights. Unlike traditional peer‑reviewed journals, Plugged In is community‑centric and covers practical, applied topics of interest to IT staff, from help desk trends and case studies to leadership strategies and professional development opportunities. Issues have been released periodically, with examples spanning from Summer 2012 through Spring/Summer 2014, and the timing of issues typically aligns with SIGUCCS activities and member interest rather than a rigid periodic schedule. Plugged In complements the SIGUCCS annual conferences, affinity group discussions, and executive leadership communications by providing accessible, practice‑oriented content that reflects the evolving landscape of computing services in colleges and universities. It is archived in the ACM Digital Library and accessible to members and subscribers through ACM’s platforms, preserving the professional discourse and institutional knowledge of the SIGUCCS community.
