ACM SIGMultimedia Records (ASMR)
Journal Descriptions
ACM SIGMultimedia Records (SIGMM Records) is the official quarterly newsletter of the ACM Special Interest Group on Multimedia (SIGMM), published under the umbrella of the Association for Computing Machinery. Launched in 2009, SIGMM Records has become a key communication platform for the global multimedia computing community, offering frequent updates on technological trends, research highlights, and organisational news. Unlike traditional peer‑reviewed journals, this newsletter prioritises timely dissemination of informational content such as reports from flagship events (e.g., ACM Multimedia, MMSys, ICMR), column discussions on standards and benchmarks, editorials on community initiatives, summaries of PhD theses, calls for participation, job and funding opportunities, and multimedia‑related announcements. By keeping readers informed about developments in multimedia systems, networking, interactive media, and related areas, SIGMM Records fosters community engagement across academia and industry. Its quarterly rhythm aligns with the ACM SIGMM’s goals of strengthening collaboration, sharing best practices, and providing a forum for multimedia professionals to exchange ideas and insights. As a newsletter indexed in the ACM Digital Library, SIGMM Records also helps preserve the evolving narrative of multimedia research and practice over time.
