ACM/IMS Transactions on Data Science (TDS)
Journal Descriptions
ACM/IMS Transactions on Data Science (TDS) was launched in 2020 as a collaborative effort by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Mathematical Statistics (IMS) to provide a high‑quality publication venue for research at the forefront of data science theory and practice. Carrying Print ISSN 2691‑1922 and E‑ISSN 2577‑3224, the journal was structured as a quarterly peer‑reviewed publication and indexed in major bibliographic databases. TDS welcomed manuscripts that addressed key challenges throughout the data science lifecycle — from data preprocessing and representation through modeling, inference, and evaluation, to issues such as privacy, fairness, transparency, and social impact. Its interdisciplinary character connected methods from statistics, machine learning, information retrieval, and scalable computing, encouraging work that balanced mathematical rigor with computational performance and practical relevance. The editorial board included experts from statistics and computer science to ensure balanced evaluation of submissions. Although the Transactions on Data Science title ceased in late 2021, it was succeeded by the ACM/IMS Journal of Data Science (JDS), which broadens the original mission to serve a wider data science community with Gold Open Access publishing.
