A.M.A Archives of Surgery (AMAAS)
Journal Descriptions
A.M.A. Archives of Surgery was a distinguished peer reviewed medical journal established in 1950 by the American Medical Association (AMA). The journal served as an important academic platform for surgeons, clinicians, and medical researchers involved in surgical science and clinical practice. It played a major role in the advancement of surgical techniques, operative care, and evidence based surgical medicine throughout the twentieth century. The journal published original research articles, clinical investigations, surgical case studies, technical reports, and review papers related to general surgery, oncology surgery, cardiovascular procedures, gastrointestinal surgery, trauma management, transplantation, and perioperative medicine. It also highlighted innovations in surgical instruments, minimally invasive procedures, and patient safety practices. Later, the journal became Archives of Surgery and eventually evolved into JAMA Surgery, which continues to be one of the leading international journals in surgical medicine. The historical archives remain valuable references for understanding the development of modern surgical research and clinical practice.
