A.M.A. Archives of Neurology (AMAAN)
Journal Descriptions
A.M.A. Archives of Neurology was a leading peer reviewed medical journal published by the American Medical Association (AMA). Established in 1959 following the separation of neurology and psychiatry into independent specialty journals, it became a major international platform for research and clinical developments in neurological sciences. The journal published original research articles, clinical studies, case reports, review papers, and therapeutic investigations related to neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, Alzheimer disease, Parkinson disease, multiple sclerosis, neurogenetics, neuroimmunology, and neuromuscular disorders. It also emphasized advances in neuroimaging, diagnostic technologies, and evidence based neurological care. Later, the journal became Archives of Neurology and subsequently evolved into JAMA Neurology as part of the JAMA Network journal reorganization. The publication continues to be one of the most influential journals in neurology and neuroscience research worldwide.
