Phronesis (Phronesis)
Journal Descriptions
The journal Phronesis aims to promote both the advancement of knowledge on these issues and a work of reflection and critical debate about them. It involves studying professions addressed to others and questioning their professionalization from the perspective of major societal questions and social and professional issues, from the perspective of theoretical, conceptual and methodological dimensions, particularly by favoring the presentation and discussion of empirical research results. Phronesis is not science, but judgment and discernment; in this sense it is at the heart of these professions addressed to others. It is the intellectual virtue allowing man a fair appreciation of singular situations. In this respect, it finds its full place in the field of practice. The primary capacity of phronesis is to allow deliberation in the face of a singular situation (taking care, teaching, training, accompanying, etc.) in order to support rational choices. One of the objects worked on in and through professionalization is therefore work. Therefore, the scientific contributions published in this journal propose to include the question of work, like that of activity and that of their professional practices as cornerstones of the problem of professionalization. The research and works published in the journal Phronesis concern all human professions present in different sectors: school and non-school education, adult training, health and social work professions, counseling and support professions, etc.
