An institution which was started in 1947 with a modest two courses and with ten teachers has now registered a phenomenal growth by blossoming into a first grade post–graduate institution, with Autonomous status, spread over 147 acres offering a record number of 63 courses (13 UG (Aided), 11 UG (Self-Finance), 14 PG, 13 M.Phil, 11 Ph.D, 1 PG diploma course), a whopping number of teaching and non–teaching staff members on its pay roll and nearly 3700 students and with a special thrust on higher education and research. ICT methods have been incorporated into the teaching–learning process to foster global competence among students.
