About Uttarakhand Madarsa Education Board

As the Chairman of the Uttarakhand Madrasa Education Board, I am happy to share with you the remarkable progress and initiatives taken by the Uttarakhand State Government under the leadership of Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji to e le Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami Ji to enhance the quality of education in our Madrasas. One of the most important steps has been the successful implementation of the NCERT curriculum in all the Madrasas of Uttarakhand. This integration ensures that our students receive a balanced education, combining traditional Islamic teachings with modern academic subjects including science, mathematics and social studies. The introduction of the NCERT curriculum is a significant step towards aligning madrasa education with mainstream educational standards, providing our students with broader academic opportunities and preparing them for competitive examinations and higher education. This initiative empowers students to achieve academic success while remaining rooted in their religious values. In addition to the NCERT curriculum, the government has modernised the infrastructure of many madrasas by providing digital classrooms, libraries and other learning resources. Skill development programmes have also been introduced to equip students with vocational training, enhancing their employability in various sectors. Scholarships and financial aid will continue to be provided to deserving students, ensuring that no student is deprived of education due to financial constraints. The government is equally committed to supporting our teachers by offering special training programs to enhance their teaching methods, enabling them to provide high-quality education in both religious and secular subjects. These efforts reflect the government's dedication to making madrasas holistic education centers where students can excel in their academic and spiritual pursuits. Department- In the context of social and economic background of minorities, many schemes are being run by the government with the objective of resolving their specific problems and bringing them into the mainstream of the nation and society by developing their education, social and economic status. For the implementation, operation and coordination of such schemes, approval has been given to constitute a separate 'Minority Welfare Ministry/Department' in the state of Uttarakhand by Uttarakhand Government's Office Memorandum No.- 510/xxxi(I)/2002 Dehradun dated 24 April, 2012. Directorate - Uttarakhand Minority Welfare Directorate has been established at Dehradun vide Notification No. – 1183(1)/XVII-3/11-07(63)/2006 dated 02 December 2011 with the objective of working in the field of education for the minorities of the state, especially the Muslim community. 'Uttarakhand Muslim Education Mission' was established in Dehradun by U.M.E.-Notification No.-26/XVII(1).3/05-07(30)/2004 dated 19 February, 2005 with the objective of working in the field of education for the minorities of the state, especially the Muslim community. Board- Madrasa Board examinations of the madrasas of the state were organised by the UP Madrasa Board till the year 2005. With the objective of giving recognition to the madrasas of the state and conducting madrasa examinations, 'Madrasa Arabic Persian Board' was established under the supervision of the Mission on 03 August 2006 by Government Order No.-813/XVII(1).3/06-07(11)/2005 dated 03 August. U.M.B.- By G.O. Order No. 1209/GTPP-3/11-07(11)/2005 TC dated 9th December, 2011, 'Uttarakhand Madrasa Board' has been constituted in Dehradun by dedicating all the posts of Uttarakhand Muslim Education Mission. Objective- The main objective of Uttarakhand Muslim Education Mission/Uttarakhand Madarsa Board is to work in the field of education for the minorities of the state, especially the Muslim community, to provide modern and employment oriented education to the Muslim community so that they can also join the mainstream of society and walk shoulder to shoulder with other sections. The objective of Uttarakhand Muslim Education Mission/Uttarakhand Madrasa Board is to register the Madrasas of the state and connect them with modern education and provide them financial assistance from the government. Act- Draft for Uttarakhand Madarsa Board Act has been prepared and sent to the government. It is expected that the Act will be promulgated soon. At present, in the absence of an Act, the posts of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Members have not been created. Organisational Structure- At present, Madarsa Board has sanctioned one post each of Director, Deputy Registrar, Inspector and Urdu Translator i.e. total 04 regular posts. Besides this, through outsourcing, posts of one Accountant, 05 Junior Assistants, 02 Peons and 01 Sweeper cum Chowkidar are sanctioned.
