About Uttarakhand Board Of School Education, Ramnagar (Nainital)
On 9th February, 1996, by Rajdhani No. 4460 / 15-7-1 ( 231)/1995, the Regional Office of the Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh was established at Ramnagar (Nainital) for the Uttarakhand region. The said Regional Office conducted the examina on. The said Regional Office conducted the examination for Garhwal and Kumaon divisions for the first time in the year 1999. Even after the formation of the state of Uttaranchal on 9th November, 2000, the board examinations for Kumaon and Garhwal divisions were conducted in the year 2001 by the then Regional Office of the Board of Secondary Education, Uttar Pradesh at Ramnagar. In the state of Uttarakhand, by Rajdhani No. 400-2 ( 260 ) H.S./2001 dated 22nd September, 2001 Uttaranchal Education and Examination Council was established in the year 2002. For the first time, the council organized its own examinations with the help of Secondary Education Council, Uttar Pradesh. On April 22, 2006, Uttaranchal School Education Act 2006 (Act No. 8 of the year 2006) was promulgated and Uttaranchal School Education Council was established . After this, Uttarakhand School Education Council was constituted by Government Order No. 201/XXI V - 5/2008 , Dehradun, dated December 11, 2008. The state of Uttarakhand is carved out of Uttar Pradesh on Nov. 09, 2000. It is surrounded by U.P. on the south, Himachal Pradesh on the west, and international boundaries of Nepal on the east, China on the northeast. The total geographical area of the state is 53,483 sq.km which is 1.69% of total area of the country. Uttarakhand was centre of education from the ancient time. It was believed that kauravas and Pandavas were trained by Guru Dronacharya in the foot hills of Himalaya thats why Dehradun is also known as Drona Nagari. India's best schools and training institutes are located in Uttarakhand. Education in the state of Uttarakhand has a sound background, right from the inception of the state. Department of education is running ahead and getting shape gradually. In Uttarakhand Department of education has a unified structure covering basic education, secondary education,State council of education researchand training, Uttarakhand board of school education and exams are working under the umbrella of Directorate of School Education .
