About Tumkur University
Established in the year 2004, Tumkur University is not only one of the youngest universities in the country but also recognized as one of the nationally renowned institutes of higher learning. It is a state university established to cater to the educ state university established to cater to the educational needs of students mostly from rural backgrounds. Since its inception, it has seen extraordinary growth in infrastructure and educational achievements. In a short span of thirteen years, it has been successful in getting 'B+' grade under UGC Act 12 (B) and NAAC Accreditation and being recognized as a National Institute of Excellence by UGC. Tumkur University has been awarded 3-star rank and has been recognized as a 'High Quality University' in the evaluation list of universities released by the Karnataka State Board of Higher Education recently. The evaluation considers the university's achievements in five areas: research, innovation, teaching and employability, infrastructure, inclusion and social impact, under three broad categories of knowledge creation, knowledge dissemination and social inclusion. seventeen postgraduate study and research departments in science and technology, arts, commerce and management institutions; Two constituent colleges namely University College of Arts and University College of Science; And more than eighty six colleges which have been merged with the university form the whole Tumkur University. High quality faculty members regularly publishing scientific and research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and other media and participating in conferences, workshops and other educational activities is a constant testimony to the growing academic performance of the university. The university offers Ph.D degree in all institutions. The University's research portfolio includes 62 research projects under Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), Department of Science and Technology (DST), Science and Technical Research Board (SERB), UGC, ICSSR, ICHR, Government of Karnataka's Science and Technology Vision Group (VGST), and They have received financial assistance from agencies such as the British Council. Prasaranga, the publishing arm of the university, has so far published many research-based works as well as the university newspaper and two scholarly peer-reviewed journals Pragmata on humanities and Lokjnana on Kannada cultural studies.
