About Stree Adhyapan Mandir (P.T.C College), Ahmedabad
This Institute was established by Mr. Parikshitlal Majmudar in 1956. This institute was started only with 40 trainees and after the period of 50 years about 4229 trainees have taken the training of P.T.C. Most of them are serving a duty of primary te T.C. Most of them are serving a duty of primary teachers in interior villages of Gujarat. P.T.C. provides (primary teachers certificate course) two years course which provides so many different experiences to the trainees to make them a good and competent teacher. Hostel life is compulsory. Trainees have to participate in different cultural programes and competitions. By these programes, activities and celebrations of the different festivals bring the total development among the trainees. Kakasaheb Kalelkar, Vinobabhave and Shree Parikhshitbhai like great personality had stayed and taken visit of this institutes. Rastrapita Gandhiji, Kishorlal Mashroowala Imam sahib Bookhari, Acharya Kruplaniji, Jugatrambhai Dave, Narhari Parikh, Babalbhai Maheta like honourable freedom fighters and writers had visited this institute. Institute is still vaibrating with the great ideas of such visitors. They have left fragrance of their personality on this institute and that is still alive and unmarked. This institute is rewarded with the best Adhyapan Mandir Award in 1994-1995. This institute is collecting donations by trainees on Teacher’s day and they hand over this collection to Ahmedabad D.E.O.For that institute has being rewarded from D.E.O. Ahmedabad from last ten years. G.C.E.R.T.has. organized the sports competition for the first time in2005-06. This college has got general champion ship award for their best performance in the competition. Above all this college has participated in so many inter college competitions like Singing competation, Drawing competation, Mehandi competation etc. The trainees have been participated in such competition very enthusiastically and won prizes also. When Mahatma Gandhi returned to India in 1915 after satyagrah movement in, South Africa, he named his residence Kochrab ashram ancient name ‘Ashram’, then he felt that this ashram is very small for his activities. So he transfered this ashram in june 1917 at the bank of the river sabarmati, giving name it to ‘Satyagruhashram’. This ashram is covered in 104 acres land. It was his residential quarter from 1918 to 1930. All his national activities were inspired here, From here he started famous Dandi march on 12th march 1930. Even today this Ashram is activated by many gandhian activities.shree Parikshitlal Majmudar, Managing Trustee of this ashram at that time took a deep interest in education especially for harijan girls of interior villages of Gujarat. He put his Noble thought of giving education to harijan girls in action in 1935 by starting a primary school, Sabarmati Harijan Kanya Vidhyalaya, then he started primary and secondary schools for them. It was his dream to make a harijan girl educated and economically independent who came in this institute for basic education. Shree Parikshitbhai's dream came true when he started Stree Adhyapan Mandir (P.T.C College) in june 1956.
