St. Thomas College of Teacher Education, Pala was founded in 1957 as one of the pioneering institutions in the field of teacher education. Our development towards academic excellence is based on the commitment and down-to-earth entrepreneurial spirit of our faculty and administrative staff. Many of our teachers are frequent guest speakers and have contributed to numerous college and community programs. The college was founded to meet a strictly defined need, namely, the training of teachers for secondary and secondary schools in our country. This idea was promoted by the then Bishop of the Palai Diocese, His Excellency Rt. Pr. Dr. Sebastian Vayalil, the founder and first patron of our institution, designed and implemented it. From 1981 to 2004 His Excellency was Rt. Our patron was Fr. Joseph Pallickaparampil. His Excellency Rt. Father Dr. Joseph Kallarangattu is our current patron. His Excellency Mar Jacob Muricken is the current Director of the College. The college offers B.Ed., M.Ed. i Course for primary school teachers. St Thomas College of Teacher Education is one of the best Institutions in the field of teacher education. It is a full fledged college imparting programme in B.Ed., M.Ed. It is the accredited with 4 star level NAAC with an institutional score of 92 in the state of Kerala. Admission of students is carried out as per Government regulations. 85% of the seats are filled from the list prepared by the govt. on the basis of merit while 15% of the seats are filled from the list prepared by the management on the basis of merit. St Thomas College of Teacher Education Pala, Kottayam Kerala was established in the year 2005 as Private Educational Institute to provide higher education to build a career in the field of Teaching. St Thomas College of Teacher Education Pala is approved by the reputed NCTE, and is affiliated with MGU, Kottayam.
