About Shri Pankaj Kapadia Sarvajanik College of Performing Arts(SCOPA)
The Sarvajanik College of Performing Arts, known in the society by its abbreviation i.e. SCOPA, was established in June, 2010. With great efforts of the past chairman and president Shri Rajnikant Marfatia, It was inaugurated on 8th October, 2010 by S atia, It was inaugurated on 8th October, 2010 by Sarita Joshi, an emminent actor of Gujarati and Marathi Theatre, in the presence of the then University vice-chancellor Dr.B.A. Prajapati and The first batch of 27 students was admittted in June, 2010. Currently, in the academic year 2022-23, the total number of registered students in degree and diploma courses is ______. SCOPA is an officially recognized Performing Arts College by the Veer Narmad South Gujarat University. With the inception of Sarvajanik University in the year 2021 SCOPA is now one of the constituent colleges of Sarvajanik University. It is the first and the only college of Performing Arts in the whole of the south Gujarat. The college offers degree courses in performing arts viz. Music, Dance and Drama up-to post-graduation. The department of Music provides three years of under-graduate degree course and two years post-graduate degree course in Classical Vocal Music. It also offers Six years Diploma of Classicial Vocal Music, which is equivalent to Vishard. In addition, one year certificate course of light and semi-classical singing is also provided. The department of Dance provides three years of under-graduate degree course and two years post-graduate degree course in Bharatnatyam. Besides, five years of Diploma of Bharatnatyam and Kathak, which is equivalent to Vishard, is also rendered. The department of Drama offers three years of under-graduate degree course and two years post-graduate degree course in Drama. It also provides one year Diploma of Acting. The college not only provides physical facilities such as AV studio and auditorium, but also renders performance opportunities. Under the guidance of proficient masters of the college, numbers of students have shown their talent on state and national level as well. And a few brilliant students have also made their debut in Gujarati and Hindi film industry in their respective field of learning. SES primarily being an Educational Institute, teachers are the torch bearers in all the activities and programmes of the Society. It shall be my endeavor to involve all worthy teachers in the ventures of SES with a view to enhance the image of SES and make its presence profoundly felt not only within the region but also in National & International educational arenas.
