Shri Chinai College of Commerce & Economics is a primeval college affiliated to the University of Mumbai, it was established in the year 1963. The College was formerly set up by Laxmi Education Society and was managed with grace till 2006-2007. La ety and was managed with grace till 2006-2007. Later from 2007-2008, it was taken over by Laxmi Charitable Trust which was set up in the memory of Shri Mathuradas Vissanji, Sheth Laherchand Uttamchand Jhaveri and Shri Jivanlal Chinai by their descendant Shri Pratap Singh Vissanji, Shri Pratap Bhogilal and Shri Rasiklal Chinai. Shri M.C Chagla, Union Minister for Education graced the ceremonial inauguration and the first term commenced in June 1963 with affiliation to the University of Mumbai. About College Although the college started in 1963 with an ambitious to provide quality education, it gradually extended the scope of philosophy and became a unique and idiosyncratic college where we aims to fabricate a safe, nurturing yet thought- provoking environment which is built on positive relationships and developing the student emotionally, socially and academically. The college initially started with Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) course and also added courses like Bachelor of Management Studies (B.M.S) from the academic year 2000-2001, Bachelor of Commerce in Banking & Insurance (B.B.I) and Bachelor of Commerce in Accounts & Finance (B.A.F.) was started form the academic year 2004-2005 and Bachelor of Commerce in Financial Markets (B.F.M.) was commenced from the academic years 2008-2009. From the commencement of this courses till date all courses of our college are running successfully and enabled to impart quality education to our students and helps them to be an elegant and responsible citizen of the nation.
