School of Performing Arts & Fine Arts, Central University of Tamil Nadu

The University has established many schools with wider flexibility, on par with a faculty status to achieve its avowed objective of intellectual and comprehensive development of its students community, ably supported by a team of faculty who are well , ably supported by a team of faculty who are well qualified, competent, vibrant, innovative and highly resourceful in their respective domains. The schools encourage flexible methodology, having multidisciplinary system with purposeful interdisciplinary perception, aiming at the emancipation of knowledge in core and applied facets of education. The School of Performing Arts & Fine Arts have one department. The Department of Music was established in the year 2017. CUTN is the only Central Institution in South India offering academic programmes in Music. Being the birthplace of the Trinity of South Indian Music, namely, Sri SyamaSastri, Sri Tyagaraja and Sri MuttusvamiDikshita, Thiruvarur has become an ideal place to propagate the rich music tradition propounded by them.
