About School of Health Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University (DSU)
The School of Health Sciences affiliated with Dayananda Sagar University provides a comprehensive education in the health sector and focuses on the betterment of Health Care System. The College of Nursing Sciences, the College of Pharmaceutical Scien sing Sciences, the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the College of Physiotherapy, and the College of Allied Health Sciences are branches of the School of Health Sciences. Dayananda Sagar college of Nursing Sciences was established in the year 2002. The college is attached to Sagar Hospital – a multi-specialty hospital within the campus for clinical practicum. The College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (COPS) is recognized by PCI, New Delhi; and the Government of Karnataka; It is also a recognized Scientific and Industrial Organization by DSIR, Govt of India. The COPS offers B. Pharm, M. Pharm, Pharm D, and Ph.D. programs. Our academic approaches ensure a comprehensive education to students through pedagogy, value-added certification courses, and an external incubation by industry experts and research institutes. Physical therapy, as a profession, dates back to the beginning of the 20th century; Physical therapy has continued to evolve and to respond to the needs of society, with physical therapists now practicing in a variety of clinical settings with unprecedented levels of professional responsibility. Allied Health science is newly established concept in health care and constitutes to be a separate stream of health professionals contributing to health care. Allied Health science professionals are an integral part of the medical team along with physicians and nurses contributing their expertise to preventive, curative and rehabilitative care of the patients.
