The functions of the School of Education are within the broad framework of the objectives of NCTE and Central University of Karnataka. The following academic programmes are being offered by the school. Department of Education, in pursuit of the vi . Department of Education, in pursuit of the vision and mission of the University, offers academic programs like B.Ed and M.Ed to equip student-teachers with proficiency in interdisciplinary knowledge of Educational Values with respect to Social, Economic, Behavioural, Environmental, and Technological. The Department is committed to inculcate and sustain higher standards in research and teaching, catering to regional, national and global needs. The Department aims at empowering student-teachers from both rural and urban areas to not only face the challenges emerging from the ever evolving Society. It also strives to enable the student-teachers to develop skills to enhance their knowledge from various domains and equip with life skills so as keep pace with the wide changes noted in the world from time to time. The department also become aims at training student-teachers globally competent and is in a position to ride the wave of globalization and change, without losing sight of the rich cultures and traditions of the country. The Department of Education, sanctioned by UGC, offers two programmes, B.Ed. and M.Ed. each of two years duration which have been approved by National Council for Teachers Education (SRC) with the intake of 50 students for each programme, meant for prospective Teachers at Secondary level. The primary objective of the Department is to impart quality teacher training. In addition to teaching- learning process, research and extension activities such as seminars, discussion are the integral part. This is a course with potential of employment in teaching learning, evaluation and research. Develop understanding of the role of socio-cultural context in shaping an individual. Analyse the implications of understanding human development for teachers. Develop understanding of the issues in contemporary India like industrialization, urbanization, globalization, modernization, economic liberalization and digitalization etc. To understanding of the issues, and challenges of contemporary Indian Society To enable students to understand importance and use of language as first and second language; multilingualism and impact of culture. To foster the essential skills of research, analysis, and communication necessary to pursue higher studies in future or enter a variety of professions. To achieve excellent standards of quality education by keeping pace with rapidly changing technologies and create technical manpower of global standards with capabilities of accepting new challenges and prepare exemplary teachers and school leaders for roles in a diverse and changing society. Our efforts are dedicated to impart quality and value based education to raise satisfaction level of all stake-holders. Our strength is directed to create competent professionals. Our endeavour is to provide all possible support to promote research and development activities. The department offers graduate and undergraduate programs that are recognized for accomplishing defined learning outcomes, supported by a foundation of applied research, and dedicated to meeting the needs of the diverse communities it serves.
