Agriculture has been the mainstay of Indian economy since ages. The science and art of agriculture has many references in the Vedic literature and the ancient history of mankind. It also creates innovativeness among the students to serve the farming community. In India more than 80 per cent of the people are dependent on agriculture for their livelihood. In this context, the goal of the institute is to produce the trained agriculture graduates for their self-development as well as for serving the farming community effectively. The School of Agriculture is dedicated to solving real-world problems in the agricultural, environmental, and human sciences to produce a better world, healthier lives, and an improved standard of living for everyone. To impart teaching to the under graduate students. To conduct the need based research as per the problems of the region. To disseminate new technology to the farmers. Agriculture Discipline is among Gujarat and India’s Best Specialist Subjects. It lays thrust on carrying out research in agricultural and allied fields. The university has well equipped laboratories, library, lecture rooms and an excellent farm facility to conduct agricultural experiments. Students learn about the latest advancements in the field of agriculture, disease resistance, fertilizers and insecticides with extensive fieldwork and field trips preparing them for the evergreen field of agriculture. Agricultural candidates have a high chance of getting jobs in the government sector such as UPSC (Indian Forest Services), Staff Selection Commission, IBPS Specialists Officer (AO), and also jobs in government organizations such as Food Corporation of India (FCI), National Bank of Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), and National Dairy Development Board. The average salary after Agriculture courses in India ranges from INR 8 to 13 lakh per annum. To carry out different research activities related to the field of agriculture of this region. To undertake the need based oriented research, problem solving and location specific research. To solve the needs and problems of the rural community. To find out the different package of practices for different crops of the region. To develop or identify suitable cultivars of different crops for the region.
