Hon. Shri. Vijaysinh Mohite-Patil the founder of SMSMP Hospital Trust is a man of vision. Realizing the increasing need of engineering in the society and industry, he SMSMP Institute of Technology & Research established, Akluj in 2011. Since its esta esearch established, Akluj in 2011. Since its establishment the college has grown to become one of the leading Engineering Education Institution in Solapur. In a span of ten years the College has gained appreciation because of excellent infrastructure, well equipped laboratory facilities, qualified faculty and hence the outstanding results of students. The College is affiliated to PAH Solapur University; the courses are approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, which is apex body controlling technical education in the country. The College offers four years Undergraduate Programmes leading to five Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech.) The SMSMPITR has been opened to provide engineering education to rural students. The institute runs under Shankarrao Mohite-Patil Charitable Hospital Trust. The Institute is situated in the heart of the city and it is just 1 km away from local ST bus depot. The Institute is sister concern of Sahakar Maharshi Shankarrao Mohite-Patil Sahkari Sakhar Karkhana ltd. Akluj, which is one of the largest sugar factories of Maharashtra state. The industry has 7500 TCD sugar crushing capacity and has 33 MW Bagasse based cogeneration plant. The Institute has well equipped laboratories and regularly arranges Industrial Visit for students to enhance their practical knowledge.
