Rajiv Gandhi Government College, Saha was established in the year 2006 in Saha, District Ambala of Haryana state, to fulfill the growing demand for a college to accommodate the substantially increased number of students residing in the rural area of number of students residing in the rural area of Saha and the villages adjacent to it.The Government of Haryana established this institution to meet the demands of the people of nearby villages. The college is affiliated to kurukshetra University,Kurukshetra and is a Co- education institute. Initially the college was started in the building and land which has been provided by the owner of a wood factory near Saha Chowk on Shahbad road.The present building was inaugurated by the then Hon’ble Chief Minister of Haryana, Sh Bhupinder Singh Hooda on 16th April,2006. This institution embarked on its voyage in the academic session 2006 -07 with students and 11 teaching faculty members. Initially the college offered admissions only in BA and BCom streams at undergraduate level . In the beginning , the campus was divided into Administrative block, Arts block, Commerce block and Library. Later on Science block was inaugurated in the year 2015. Over the years new courses have been added such as BSc non medical and BSc Medical were introduced in the Session 2012- 13 and 2022- 23 respectively.To enhance the career advancement of the students M.com and Msc. Geography was introduced in the session 2022-23. NEP(2020) is also introduced in the college, from the current academic session i.e. from 2023-24, keeping in view the objective to give equal importance to all subjects like Science ,Social sciences ,arts, languages ,sports and Mathematics . The newly introduced courses like Multi disciplinary course (MDC), Ability enhancement programs (AEP), Value added courses (VAC) and Skill Enhancement programs (SEP) are also taught to the students to develop their personality and to promote critical thinking The college Is proving a blessing for rural students by providing beautiful natural surroundings and offering opportunities for outdoor activities along with their academic growth.
