The institute was founded in 1985 by Prof. P. Murugesan. It was initially known as the Institute of Computer Science and Technology. Murugesan founded the institute to introduce computer education to the Thanjavur District. In 1988, the institute rec the Thanjavur District. In 1988, the institute received affiliation from Bharathidasan University to offer postgraduate diploma programmes in computer applications. Thereafter it expanded to include an Arts and Science College, College of Engineering and Technology, College of Education, Research Institution, and Polytechnic College. To be internationally recognized Institution for its excellence of academic programmes, for its high quality teaching across a broad range of disciplines, for its efforts in promoting world class research and for its community service in making quality and flexible higher education to reach wider community. To dedicate to the communication, expansion and integration of knowledge through excellent undergraduate education as its primary priority and complementary excellent post graduate academic programmes.
