NITTE (Deemed-to-be-University), popularly known as NITTE University, is an institute of higher education located in Derlakatte, Mangalore, Karnataka. The University was established as The NITTE A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, whic Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, which later was awarded Deemed-to-be-University status in 2008. Eventually, multiple faculties such as Medical, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Physiotherapy were established in 2009 under the ambit of NITTE. NITTE University offers Diploma, Certificate, Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Doctorate programs. NITTE Deemed-to-be-University offers Medical, Dental, Allied Health, Architecture, and Physiotherapy programs with multiple specializations. NITTE University admission for all the medical and dental courses is granted based on rank obtained in the NEET exam. It got placed under the Deemed-to-be-University category in 2012. The Communication program was started in 2012, and the Architecture course was started in 2015. NITTE is accredited A+ grade in 2021 by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). It is ranked in 77th position by NIRF in 2021 under the best university category. NITTE University is recognized to be one of the best universities located in the state of Karnataka. Under its aegis, the university has 36 institutions spread across three campuses in multiple locations of Karnataka. It offers a variety of courses for deserving and eligible candidates. NITTE University hostels are on-campus and are close to the college and the hospital. NITTE offers hostel facilities for both boys and girls. Hostel rooms for the candidates are allotted during their admission. The university has accommodation types on offer for the candidates to choose from based on their preferences. The annual fee for the hostel rooms depends on the occupancy of the rooms. Candidates are not allowed to vacate in the middle of the academic year. Some of the hostels also offer AC room facilities and also have indoor and outdoor games. Hostels also have mess facilities with the best food options. An advance-fee may be collected for Mess and will be adjusted against the monthly mess charges. The vegetarian mess of the university is operated on a cost-sharing basis. Hostellers are eligible to pre-book their favourite non-veg dishes apart from their regular vegetarian menu through the Paaka Shaale app. All the hostel candidates will have a cot, cupboard, study table and chair. Every hostel has water heaters, WiFi, common telephone, TV room, reading room, visitors lounge, water coolers, generators and 24x7 security.
