New India Bible Seminary (NIBS)

New India Bible Seminary (NIBS) is the pivotal project of the New India Evangelistic Association (NIEA). It was founded in 1975 by the late Dr. Abraham Philip. NIBS was born out of the deep conviction that the evangelization of India is possible on on that the evangelization of India is possible only if committed young men and women are trained in Bible disciplines and evangelistic work. The New India Evangelistic Association is committed to equipping dedicated men and women for the fulfillment of the Great Commission. After the demise of Dr. Abraham Philip, his elder son, Mr. Matthew Philip served as Director of the NIEA. Presently, Dr. Alexander Philip is the Executive Director. The institution began as a Bible school with four faculty members and twelve students enrolled in the Certificate of Theology course. The Diploma in Theology was added in 1976, the Bachelor of Theology in 1985, the Master of Divinity program in 1994, and the Master of Theology program in 2011. The B.Th. course was accredited by the Asia Theological Association (ATA) in 1992, followed by by the M.Div. in 1996, the M.Th. (H.C.D.) in 2013, and the M.Th. (P.T.C.) in 2021. Sensing the need for theological training to adequately prepare lay people and pastors who did not get a chance for theological education for God’s service in India and South Asia, a special extension education program in Diploma in Theology and Bachelor of Theology started in 2012. In 2018, the college started a non- residential program in Bachelor of Arts in Christian Ministry and Leadership with a focus on enabling the local pastors and lay leaders of the churches Today, the seminary has a student body of 200 students and 20 faculty members. ...view more
