About MIT School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (MIT SHASS)
The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is one of MIT's five Schools. It includes eleven faculty-housing units. MIT's Anthropology program offers opportunities to conduct research all over the world. Living and working among the people f r the world. Living and working among the people from whom we learn, we investigate how social identities and hierarchies are established or contested, cultural values are transmitted and transformed, and community and state organizations operate. MIT's Comparative Media Studies/Writing program develops thinkers who can apply their insights to contemporary problems and cultivates practitioners, scholars, and artists who can work in multiple forms of contemporary media. MIT's Economics program helps develop practitioners who seek solutions to the world's most pressing challenges through innovative economic research. The History program at MIT provides students a full educational experience that will prepare them to be active members of their local communities and of an increasingly global society. Investigators and practitioners in the Linguistics program aim to discover the rules and representations underlying the structure of particular languages and revelations about its the form and development. MIT's Music curriculum is known for its fantastic variety of quality offerings to undergraduates at all levels of preparation and talent.
