With the aim of achieving the vision of "standard education for all", the Ministry of Education is carrying out the responsibility of the main coordinator in adopting and implementing the policies and development of the overall education system of th development of the overall education system of the country. He first established the Ministry of Education, Religion and Culture in March 1972. In December 1974, the name was changed to the Ministry of Education and Culture due to the increase in scope of work. Later in March 1984 it was renamed as Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. Meanwhile, as its scope increased further, it emerged as a full-fledged Ministry of Education in August 1993. Later in November 2016, the Ministry of Education was divided into 2 departments. One is “Department of Secondary and Higher Education” and the other is “Department of Technical and Madrasa Education”. Department of Secondary and Higher Education undertakes policy making and other activities from secondary level to higher education. Apart from this, laws and regulations are formulated in the field of education administration and management. The main responsibility of this department is to make education standard and accessible to all by supervising the management activities of all secondary level schools, colleges and universities under its jurisdiction. At present, there are 2406 post-primary junior schools, 16562 secondary schools, 1480 schools and colleges, 3341 colleges and 56 public (05 medical universities) and 115 private universities. Organizations under the Department of Technical and Madrasah Education oversee the management activities of all recognized technical and madrasah groups after the primary level.
