About MES College Nedumkandam
The college was started by MES on the request of a sponsoring committee of the locality. The committee was knocking the doors of educational agencies of that time to start a college in Neudumkandam. But all their efforts proved to be futile. A letter ut all their efforts proved to be futile. A letter from the sponsoring committee inviting MES to Nedumkanadm to start a college was immediately replied by the founder president of MES Dr P K Abdul Gafoor that the committee may consult K Mohammdkutty Sahib ailas Kutty Sahib, the district president of MES. The relentless efforts by the team headed by him culminated in the establishment of M ES College Nedumkandam. The long cherished dream of a college at Nedumkandam was materialised on 26th December 1982. The history of educational development of this hill station is incomplete without the contributions made by the college. Muslim Educational Society was founded in 1964 at Calicut under the tutelage of the inspiring personality Late Dr.Abdul Gafoor. From its humble beginning M.E.S. has become one of the top-notch educational agencies in Kerala with a network of schools and colleges. During the initial stages M.E.S. encouraged education among the members of its community by awarding scholarships. The commitment and understanding spirit shown by the M.E.S. to impart knowledge to the educationally underprivileged class of the society have gained wide respect and reputation. The present growth and structure of M.E.S. owe much to the vision and futuristic thoughts of Dr.Abdul Gafoor. M.E.S. entered the higher education field by setting up colleges in the northern parts of Kerala. Later it spread its wings to all parts of Kerala. Presently M.E.S. has a medical college, Dental College and Nursing College at Perinthalmanna, Engineering Colleges at Kuttippuram, Kunnukara and Chathannoor, Training Colleges at Edathala and Edathanattukara and Aided Arts and Science Colleges at Mannarkad, Ponnani, Kodungallur, Mampad, Valanchery, Nedumkandam & Marampally. There are 20 self financing Arts and Science Colleges, Higher Secondary Schools, Orphanages, Hospitals etc. are successfully running at various parts of Kerala under Muslim Educational Society.
