The Ashrama gave priority to the dissemination of education among the masses in Sagardwip. In 1928 a primary school started functioning for the children of the surrounding villages. In those days, schooling of the rural children was a dream to the parents of this locality. As time rolled on, in view of the need of higher education the primary school was promoted to high school level for boys only in 1952. The high school is the pivot of this Ashrama and it caters to the need of the young boys of the neighboring villages. The school functions in a calm and quiet atmosphere conducive to proper education. Due care is taken for the all round development of the students as planned by Swami Vivekananda- “We want that education by which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one can stand on one’s own feet.” ...view more
