Mahadevappa Rampure (MR) Medical College - The Government of Karnataka had decided to establish a Medical College at Bellary instead of Gulbarga. Hyderabad Karnataka Education Society under the leadership of Sri Mahadevappa Rampure started a Medical rship of Sri Mahadevappa Rampure started a Medical College in Private sector in 1963. Sri S. Nijalingappa, the then Chief Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, Sri. Veerendra Patil and Dr. D. C. Pavate helped in establishing the Medical college. Medical College was started in 1963 with mission to bring out quality doctors by imparting quality education to meet the present and changing expectation of the people and improving the health status of the people of this region by offering health care and providing optimum training facilities for Medical students. In 1973, Sri. Mahadevappa Rampure, the architect & founder of the Medical College left to heavenly abode and to salute his vision, dynamism and hard work in establishing this College, it was named after him as "Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College". Code of conduct: The students are to strictly follow the rules and regulations of the college. They should respect the members of the faculty & Management. Dress Code: The institution has a prescribed dress code to which all the students must abide. Dress should be neat & clean. Both boys and girls should wear clean white aprons in the campus premises. To respect the sanctity of profession please do not wear these aprons outside the college campus. Punctuality: Students are expected to be seated 5 minutes before the commencement of the class. Late comers will not be permitted to enter the class. The student will attend atleast 80% classes in each subject in theory as well as practical and will not be absent without prior written permission of the Dean/Principal/HOD. The student will not indulge in malpractices during tests/examinations. He/ She will not absent from such tests/examinations without prior written permission of the Dean/Principal/HOD. Behaviour: Students are not allowed to shout or make loud noise during or between the class hours or leisure time while they are in the campus. Students are prohibited from standing in person or in groups on the corridor. Unnecessarily initiating a conversation with stranger is to be avoided. The student will not indulge in any type of ragging or harassment of juniors or other students. Ragging is a serious offence that is totally prohibited in our institution. Anyone found guilty of ragging or abetting ragging, whether actively or passivating or being a part of a conspiracy to promote ragging is liable to punished in accordance with regulation framed by NMC(Prevention & Prohibition of Ragging in medical college & institutions)2021. Usage of mobile phones in College & Hospital premises particularly, class rooms, practical halls, library & bed side is strictly prohibited. If found in such act, the mobile will be confiscated and will not be returned. Smoking, alcohol consumption, drug abuse and any kind of misbehaviour or any kind of unlawful activity within the campus is prohibited and will be duly addressed to the parents besides taking strict disciplinary action as per college rules and regulations. Any student found continuing with same behaviour even after reasonable notice will be immediately removed from the institution. The student will not damage the reputation of the college and its property. He/she hereby agrees to pay the cost of damages if caused by him/her to any movable or immovable property of college, Hospital or Hostel along with fine due to his/her malafied/negligent working or duties. Mentorship: Group of students will be guided by one staff of 1st The names of the staff allotted to the group will be announced/intimated shortly. Counselling: Students who faces academic or other problems can approach the head of the Institution, head of the department, senior staff members or mentors for redressal of their grievances. Parents are advised to approach the head of the department, faculty Members or Mentors regularly to know the progress of their wards. Parents if summoned to discuss about their wards should report to the college without fail immediately as and when required. Disciplinary action will be taken if students misconduct in the College/Hostel. This may be in the form of fine/suspension/rustication. Possession or use of firearms or any lethal weapon are prohibited in college/Hospital/ Hostels premises. Any major illness/suffering both physical & mental should be reported.
