Maharaj Singh College is the brain child of Late Babu Maharaj Singh Advocate, who, not only donated almost all of his material assets, but made untiring efforts to make this institution a pioneer in its field. The College was established in 1957 as a ts field. The College was established in 1957 as a science college providing graduate level courses in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The institution is presently affiliated with Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut (Originally named as Meerut University is now C.C.S. University, Meerut). Maharaj Singh College, nicknamed as M.S. College, is situated at Saharanpur, the district headquarter and also the Commissionery headquarter of Saharanpur in western U.P., 165 km. North off New Delhi. Total campus area of the college is 18,000 approx. sq. yards and an additional area of 33,000 sq. yards is used as games field. It offers 7 PG courses and 11 UG courses. Total strength of the College is approx. 3,500. The Founder Late Babu Maharaj Singh Ji Babu Maharaj Singh was born on 5th June 1890 in Gangoh, Saharanpur. His father Lala Bool Chand Ji was a well known landlord of his area. After completing elementary education he did his LL.B. in 1915 and started law practice in Saharanpur and was soon rated among the top lawyers of this geographical region. In those date of late twenties, buying a car was a self-evident indication of financial success of a person. However, this professional and financial success could not take Babu Maharaj Singh away from his spiritual mindset. In those days, Saharanpur had no college for higher education in science stream and the students of the district Saharanpur had to migrate to other cities in order to achieve graduation and post graduation in science. It were the Herculian efforts by Babu Maharaj Singh in pooling up financial resources for a science college and he started these efforts by donating almost all of his property for an institution of his dreams – Maharaj Singh College. As President of the Managing Committee of the college, he remained very active for three years to ensure all round progress of this institution in its infancy. Founder Secretary Late Babu Inder Sain Ji Babu Inder Sain Ji was District Government Counsel (Civil as well as Criminal) and a renowned advocate of Saharanpur. He was the Founder Secretary of Maharaj Singh College, Saharanpur and was the key person in bringing the institution as one of the top science college of Saharanpur. The total concept was planned and executed by him. Thus, he fulfilled the dream of founder Late Babu Maharaj Singh Ji. To ignite and produce young minds endowed with various creative skills and ethical values to serve the society and play leadership role in national and international life. To maintain academic standards by way of quality teaching, research and evaluation and its promotion and sustenance through self and external evaluation. To facilitate employability and right values through the curricula of science, Humanities and social science that meet the human resources requirement for socio—economic and cultural ends of the society. Inclusiveness or equal access to socially and economically disadvantages groups and hence to do away with disparities associated with region, area of origin and social groups. To integrate Information and Communication of technology with the teaching, research, extension and governance programmes.
