Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School

The school was first established as an annex school of Andili National High School with Mrs. Sancismera E. Togonon as the Principal with the initiative of the local Government Unit under the leadership of the late Mayor Atty. Benjamin Jampayas and V p of the late Mayor Atty. Benjamin Jampayas and Vice Mayor Fructouso A. Cruda. They allotted P60,000 for the purchase of the 2.5 hectares plus .5 hectare donated school site with the cooperation of all municipal employees sparing some amount from their salary plus the financial assistance from Congressman Rogelio Sarmiento, Governor Prospero S. Amatong and Don Francisco Dizon. It was officially opened in SY 1993-1994 with four (4) classrooms with 110 students, and four (4) teachers namely Ms. Anita Balbarino, Ms. Ma. Cecilia M. Asidoy, Mr. Ray L. Rollon and Ms. Adoracion M. Badad who was designated to be the School In-charge under the supervision of the school principal of Andili National High School. The parents supported the school by paying P100/month/student for teachers seminars and trainings, supplies and other needs in the school while teachers salary was taken from the General Fund of the Municipality of Mawab. By virtue of Republic Act No. 7735, an Act establishing a National High School in Barangay Poblacion in the Municipality of Mawab, Province of Davao del Norte, to be known as Lorenzo S. Sarmiento Sr. National High School effective June 3, 1994. For proper monitoring and close supervision of the newly institutionalized high school, Mrs. Secinia C. Morales was officially designated as the School In-Charge on October 11,1994. She became a full-fledged principal on July 1,2003 and promoted to Secondary School Principal II on November 17, 2008. A few months later, she became the Education Program Supervisor in Science in the Division of Compostela Valley thus a former school principal I of Andili National High School took over the vacant item left by her.
