About Institute of Environment Management
The South Indian Education Society’s Indian Institute of Environment Management (SIES IIEM), a pioneer research and academic institution, was set up in 1999 to develop need based solutions through R&D activities and train young professionals in the &D activities and train young professionals in the areas of sustainable environment management. Since its foundation, IIEM has been an active proponent of knowledge-based research and development to address upstream concerns on conservation of natural resources and protection of environment. The institute is actively working with industries in the areas of carbon neutrality, applied biotechnology, environmental monitoring, and pollution management. IIEM took up challenging issues in the areas of climate change adaptation, sustainable management of hazardous waste and drinking water; anaerobic biotechnology, development of biofertilizers, biosurfactants, biomonitoring and indexing of forest and rivers etc. SIES IIEM under the able leadership of the founder Director, Prof. Purshottam Khanna made significant contribution to climate change studies. The Nobel Peace Prize for the year 2007 was awarded to Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Geneva. In recognition and in a symbolic gesture of the support of SIES IIEM, the Nobel Peace Prize was endorsed in the name of the Director. ...view more
