Institute for Integrated Programmes and Research in Basic Sciences (IIRBS), the first institute of its kind in the state of Kerala was established in 2008 under the directorship of Prof. I. Ibnusaud (Late. Professor, School of Chemical Sciences) and Late. Professor, School of Chemical Sciences) and started five year integrated M.Sc chemistry programme in 2009. Over the years, the institute has earned recognition as one of the best interdisciplinary institutions in terms of providing a top-notch teaching-learning environment and cutting-edge instrumentation facilities. IIRBS is the first department with NMR facility among the universities in the state. Now IIRBS is offering five year integrated M.Sc in five major disciplines of science with effect from 2020-21 academic year. The major objective of the programmes is to integrate the conventional bachelors and masters programmes under a specified research oriented learning experience by bringing together various science disciplines and thereby empower basic education.
