Brief Biography of Hon'ble Babu Ganpat Sahai Ji: Shri Ramsahay Srivastava was born in village Akodiya of district Rae Bareli, Pargana-Salwan to Shri Jalpa Prasad Srivastava, who was Superintendent in the Collectorate of Sultanpur. He was married to the Collectorate of Sultanpur. He was married to Smt. Khatarani Devi, daughter of Shri Chaudhary Gopal Rai in village Pakhrauli, Tehsil and District Sultanpur and settled in Pakhrauli. Shri Ram Sahai had four sons and three daughters - Ganpat Sahay, Mahavir Prasad, Manmohan Lal and Harikrishna Verma and Ruprani, Chabirani and Nandrani. Smt. Ruparani was married to Shri Raisaheb Babu Hariprasad Verma Chhitepatti, Smt. Chhabirani, Shri Mahesh Prasad, Principal GIC and Smt. Nandrani Babu Jagatnarayan Verma, Advocate, Sultanpur. Shri Rajkrishna Verma and Shri Avinash Chandra Verma were also in this series. In the tradition of Nanihal Pakhrauli, Shri Jaikaran Nath Verma (Engineer) is a respected member of the Management Committee. Ganpat Sahai completed his high school in Sultanpur and then in Allahabad. He received his B.A. degree from Allahabad University in 1904 with special merit in English subject and was awarded the "Jalan" Gold Medal. In 1905, Babusaheb became a member of the Congress. In 1906, he obtained the degree of L.B., on the basis of distinguished proficiency, he was appointed lecturer in the English Department of Muir Central College, which was the highest educational institution of Uttar Pradesh at that time. This was the first instance when a person with only graduate education was elevated to the post of lecturer. Babu Ganpat Sahai ji's great contribution to independence and national service - 1905 - Due to active participation in the Bang-Bhang movement, he resigned from the post of lecturer and presented a unique example of patriotism. 1914 - Participated in Dr. Annie Besant's Home Rule Movement. 1917 – Continued to cooperate and provide legal assistance in the peasant movement which was being run by Baba Ramchandra, Kedarnath, Devnarayan Pandey and Baba Ramlal. 1920 – During Mahatma Gandhi's Non-Cooperation Movement, he left the practice of advocacy and traveled to the district and prepared the background of the movement. 1921 - Under the leadership of Acharya Kripalani, he paved the way for the students who left the university and participated in the movement and managed the entire system. 1921 - While presiding over the Uttar Pradesh Committee at Anand Bhawan, Prayag, he spent one year sentence as a result of his arrest along with 51 members. 1924 - Unanimously elected Chairman of Municipality, Sultanpur. 1929 - Mahatma Gandhi was given a grand welcome and presented a bag of Rs. 10000 / -. 1931 - Was elected Chairman of District Board, Sultanpur and continued to hold office till 1948. 1934 - Established Inter College in the name of his wife (late Keshkumari). This became the first inter college for girls in the district. 1940 – Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Kedarnath Arya and Dr. Ganesh Krishna were arrested during a speech in the meeting of Rupaipur. He was the first person in Uttar Pradesh to be given such a long sentence. 1942 - He was arrested at the station while returning from the Bombay session of the All India Congress. Sultanpur to Deoli detention campHe was detained along with prominent leaders like Acharya Narendra Dev, Krishna Dutt Paliwal, Purushottamdas Tandon, Rafi Ahmed Kidwai etc. Thus became famous as the frontline fighter of the Indian freedom struggle. 1945 - Won the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly with a huge majority on a Congress ticket. 1953 - Re-elected President of Nagar Palika Sultanpur. 1954 - In the case of Zamidari Abolition, he was appointed advocate in the High Court Allahabad on behalf of Uttar Pradesh. 1961 - Contested as an independent candidate in the by-election from Sultanpur North Lok Sabha seat and proved his supremacy in the field of politics by defeating Congress candidate M. Shri K.C. Pant. 1967 – Contested Lok Sabha election on Congress ticket and won. 1967 - Established Ganpat Sahay Degree College by donating his all, which achieved distinction as the first model college of the city. 1969 - He died on 8 March 1969 at Willington Nursing Home, Delhi.
