Promoted by GSFC Ltd as part of its corporate social responsibility programme, the initiative was launched in 2010, with the formation of the GSFC Education Society.​ GSFC then applied to the state government for recognition of GSFC University under the Gujarat Private University Act in early 2014.The Letter of Intent was granted in July 2014, and an architect was appointed to begin building the campus. Current demographic data from around the country clearly establishes the need for not only the growth in the country’s higher education sector but also specifically designed curriculum delivered in manner that reduces the gap in the supply-demand-employ-ability equation.​ With focused deliberations on the state of education vis-à-vis industry demands, the GSFC University focuses on the four Cs- Culture, Curriculum, Collaborations and Campus. The University is built on the culture of openness, which is participatory and provides a platform for key stakeholders. The curriculum includes activities that promotes social responsibility and civic engagement, and is delivered in a unique pedagogy. Forums connecting industry with academia, a students’ forum to foster dialogue beyond the campus, and internships tailored to the need of the students will promote collaborations. Sabbaticals and faculty development program involving external partners is another facet of University. Gender friendly campus with its supporting infrastructure enables students to unlock their immense potentials. The University has initiated fundamental change in the way academic institutions are established. Our purpose is to train and develop industry ready human capital, as opposed to simply awarding degree.
