Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is a public institution located in Allendale, Michigan, established in 1960 to meet the need for a four-year college in the state's second-largest metropolitan area. Pew Grand Rapids campus covers 65 acres; and the Health Campus occupies 14.5 acres in Grand Rapids' Medical Mile area. As of fall 2023, GVSU enrolled approximately 19,243 undergraduate students. The university's athletic teams, known as the Lakers, compete in NCAA Division II sports and have secured 28 national championships.
