Government Polytechnic for Girls - Ahmedabad (GPGA), a premier diploma engineering institute was established in the year 1964 with the aim to provide technical education to girls in the heritage city of Ahmedabad. It is located right opposite to PRL of Ahmedabad. It is located right opposite to PRL and adjacent to ATIRA, in the throbbing educational hub within the heart of the city and in the vicinity of reputed institutes like L.D.College of Engg., Gujarat University, L.M.College of Pharmacy and the world renowned CEPT University. It is endowed with a beautiful green campus which has its own flora and fauna. At present, GPGA offers 3 year diplomas in 7 programmes under Commissionerate of Technical Education and is affiliated with Gujarat Technological University (GTU). These are Diplomas in Architecture Assistantship (DAA), Biomedical Engineering (DBE), Computer Aided Costume Design and Dress Making (DCACDDM), Civil Engineering (DCE), Computer Engineering (DCoE), Electronics and Communication Engineering (DEC) and Information Technology (DIT). To carve a brighter prospect for the nation through excellence in technical education for fostering skills, ethical values and environmental consciousness among girl students while undertaking existing and forthcoming challenges. To nurture technical and creative skills through quality education. To strengthen industries interaction. To impart real life problem solving skills. To promote care for sustainability of environment and importance of social responsibility among girl students. Basically, the strength of any institute is its learned faculties, who can nurture the students in all respect. The faculties at this institute are highly qualified and motivated in their respective fields. In order to sharpen their knowledge, many faculties have done doctorate studies in engineering, science and literature. Thus, at this institute, the students are getting extraordinary benefits of the knowledge of these learned faculties in studies as well as in making innovative projects. Apart from teaching them mere syllabus, to make the students aware about current industrial practices, we invite experts from the industries to share their expertise with the students. At the end of the semester, we hold parents meeting and let them know the progress of their daughters. As the faculties are well qualified and teaching practices are best at this institute, the quality education of the institute is authenticated by the National Board of Accreditation. It is a matter of pride for all of us that five programs of the institute, namely, Bio-medical engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Aided Costume Design And Dress Making, Information Technology have got NBA accreditation for three years. Along with the quality teaching, the institute is vibrant in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities; which bring out real hidden potential within the students. Every year we organize technical event, wherein students take part in various technical competitions and make innovative models. To teach them concept of healthy mind and healthy body, a sports event is also being organized regularly. Based on their skill and knowledge, we guide students to choose their career path ahead of Diploma certification. We invite reputed companies and conduct campus interviews for placement of our pass-outs.
