The Government Polytechnic, Daman under U.T. Administration of Daman & Diu was established in October, 1989. It is now functioning in an independent new complex at Varkund on Daman – Vapi Main Road. In this complex by now the building of Civil Engi In this complex by now the building of Civil Engineering Department, Chemical Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department, Information Technology / Computer Engineering Building, Electrical Engineering & Plastic Engineering, Administrative Block, Library and Class Room building, Workshop building, Boys Hostel building and staff Quarters have already come up. All the Workshops and Laboratories needed for the courses as per AICTE prescribed norms and standards have been set up and are fully equipped. The facility of full-fledged Library is available in the Institute. The Government Polytechnic, Daman is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated with Gujarat Technological University, Ahmedabad, Gujarat State. Government Polytechnic, Daman was established in the year 1989 by the Union territory Administration of Daman and Diu, with the aim of providing quality technical education to the students of Daman, Diu and nearby areas, who aspire to become skilled engineers, and it is striving to impart quality education to strengthen technical base in the country. The institute recognized the need of the hour and setup a strong institution to educate the youth, to make them aware of the rights as well as what they can be and what they can do for the nation. It is a fast growing technical institution in the Union Territory of Daman and Diu. At Government Polytechnic Daman, we provide a warm, caring, stimulating and challenging environment in which our students learn and develop. Under the able guidance of the Hon’bleAdministrator of the Union territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, a dedicated team of teachers, administrative staff and theadministration of Daman and Diu with great vision, form a unified team making endeavours to transform the young ones into professional technocrats having knowledge, energy, strength, and to create a catalytic force to metamorphose the social fabric. The Government Polytechnic, Damanteaching staff is recruited through the U.P.S.C., the appointed faculties are highly experienced, skilled and devoted to their assigned work. The college is having a well updated Library where all types of engineering course books and different magazines, Journal and E-Journal facility are available and students can update their day to day technical and general knowledge, from this facility student can also prepare for other competitive examinations.
