The Government Engineering College, Idukki (GECI) is located in the beautiful high range district of Kerala known for its mountainous hills and dense forests. Each student is assigned to a staff advisor from the concerned department who guides the students in curricular and extracurricular activities during the period of study in the college. The college has a very active student’s union whose principal objective is to develop leadership qualities, integrity and inculcate the spirit of service among the students. The members are responsible for organising sports, arts, cultural and edutainment events. The college is academically structured into seven departments - Electrical and Electronics Engineering - Electronics and Communication Engineering - Computer Science and Engineering - Information Technology - Mechanical Engineering - General Engineering Department - Department of Mathematics and Basic Sciences The college has a very active career guidance cell that frequently organizes various soft skill development programmes and workshops to motivate students to perform better. The placement cell aims at providing placement opportunities for the students. A counselling cell has also been set up to help and guide the students. The college has well-equipped lab and a well-stocked library with subscription to national and international journals and periodicals.
